The X-Files

The X-Files (1998)

This is not technically a legal movie, but it deals with the slow accumulation of evidence and an adversarial relationship that at times evokes the defender/prosecutor relationship in many legal films. (OK, I'm an X-Files fan and wanted an entry under "X." Don't sue.) Directed by Rob Bowman, written by Chris Carter, the film, inspired by the excellent TV series, focuses on two FBI agents, Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) who fight bureaucracy and each other as they work to uncover a government conspiracy to cover up an alien invasion from outer space. The interplay between Mulder and Scully, and the frustration and rewards of their detective work, make for enjoyable watching, even though I thought the film was a bit too slow and too long.
